With the 2018-2019 remote starter season upon us, the staff at Audio Garage in Fargo would like to dispel some of the common auto start myths we hear on a regular basis. When you purchase a remote car starter from Audio Garage, you can be sure you’re getting the best product and installation available in the industry.
Myth #1: A Remote Starter is Bad For My Car or Truck
Starting your car a few minutes before driving is not only good for your car, but most vehicle owner’s manuals suggest letting the engine idle for a few minutes to allow oil and coolant to warm up and flow properly through the engine. A proper warm-up procedure will extend the life of your engine while boosting the process of warming up the interior on a cold winter day.
Myth #2: A Remote Started Car is Easy to Steal
When you activate a remote starter, the vehicle is no easier to steal than if it were sitting dormant in your driveway in the middle of the night. The doors will remain locked and unless you have the key, the engine will shut down as soon as the brake pedal is pressed.
Myth #3: Remote Starters Don’t Work with Diesel Engines or Push-to-Start Vehicles
Modern ignition systems make starting your car or truck as easy as (quite literally) pushing a button. Our remote starts integrate into the factory electronics to ensure that diesel, push-to-start and even security-key equipped vehicles can be started safely and easily.
Myth #4: Manual Transmission Vehicles Can’t Be Remote Started
Our remote starter systems are designed to work specifically with manual transmission vehicles. There is a safe process required to enable the remote start sequence. Once you have parked your car, complete the process and as soon as you close the last door, your vehicle is ready to be started. If someone opens a door and puts the transmission in gear, the remote starter function will be disabled.
Myth #5: Installing a Remote Starter is Easy
Connecting two wires is a relatively easy task for someone with experience. Knowing how to access the current wires takes years of training and proper test equipment. Our installation team not only has the right tools and experience, but they know how to make electrical connections and interface with computer systems in a way that ensures long-term reliability and vehicle safety.
Myth #6: You Don’t Need Much Remote Range
Remote range is very important. Sure, your car or truck might be sitting in the driveway only 50 feet away. What about when you go grocery shopping, to a movie or out for dinner with friends or family? Having long-range remote controls ensures that you’ll be able to give your vehicle a chance to warm up, even when you are hundreds of feet away.
Myth #7: A Remote Starter Will Void my Warranty
As with any automotive accessory, if installed correctly, there won’t be any issues with your manufacturer warranty. Choosing a team of qualified and trained experts to work on your vehicle is the only way to ensure you remain protected.
