A client from here in Fargo recently brought his new-to-him Harley-Davidson Road King motorcycle to Audio Garage for help with the stereo. The client has been a car salesman here in Fargo and has sent many clients to us over the years for vehicle upgrades and protection packages. When he realized the radio on his bike wasn’t working, he brought it to us right away.
Harley Road King Stereo Inspection
Caleb booked a consultation appointment with the client so that we could dig into the install on his bike and come up with a solution to get it working. The previous owner had installed a radio in a weather-resistant enclosure on top of the handlebars. The radio fed a pair of small speakers beside the radio and a set of 4-inch drivers that were mounted in the tops of the saddlebags. After inspecting the condition of the equipment, we invited the client to listen to the Rockford Fosgate system on our demo bike. He was amazed at how good it sounded and how loudly it could play.
Rockford Fosgate Stage 2 Stereo Upgrade Package
Rockford just recently launched an upgrade kit that is specific to the Road King. Called the HD9813RK-STAGE2, the kit includes a set of Rockford’s amazing 6×9 saddlebag speakers and grilles, a 400-watt TM400X4ad amplifier, a Bluetooth receiver and all the wiring and mounting hardware we need to complete the installation.
The TMS69BL9813 6×9 speaker kit includes new grilles that work with the existing saddlebag lids. The old speaker cutouts were within a hundredth of an inch of not working with the new kit. Thankfully, everything went together perfectly. We used the RFK-HDRK wiring kit and bracket to mount the amp in the right-side saddlebag. We ran the wiring to the battery and to the passenger-side saddlebag to complete the installation.
We removed the radio pod and speakers from the front of the bike and made sure all the associated wiring was cleaned up and made safe.
