If you are like most people, you love riding your Harley-Davidson. The power, torque, sound and looks are all part of an experience that is unique. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said of your Harley-Davidson stereo system. Here at Audio Garage, we have lots of Harley clients who come to us with one major complaint. It often goes something like this: “I was driving up the road with my stereo on low and one of my favorite songs started playing. I was about to crank it up when I realized that wasn’t an option. I am here hoping you can make my stereo system sound good and give me the volume I need to hear it at speed.”
The good news is we can help. We have transformed many motorcycles into concerts on two wheels. Let’s explore where Harley went wrong and how we fix it.
Good Sound Requires Good Speakers
Good sound starts with good speakers and, to be blunt, your Harley ones are lousy. They are the reason your music sounds weak and anemic. The first step in better sound is having Audio Garage install one or more great-sounding sets of speakers. On the 1998–2013 models, you have 5.25” speakers in your fairing and we have adapters to upgrade them to 6.5” models. When you combine the improved quality with the bigger size, you have a match made in heaven.
More Power For Your Harley-Davidson Stereo!
The next step is power. You own a Harley, so of course you need power! When you are driving up the road, the combination of wind noise and engine noise is many times louder than what you experience in your car or truck. What that means is the honest 10–20 watts of power in your radio won’t cut it. You solve this dilemma by adding an amplifier. We have models designed to take the beating of a motorcycle, work with the limited charging capacity and have a compact footprint that allows them to be hidden. Our systems will give you up to 10 times more power than you have now, so when that favorite song comes on, you can crank it up.
Radio Upgrade = More Features, Better Sound
Finally, you need a good radio in your fairing. Lots of people store all their music on their phones nowadays or use Internet radio, and would love to have an easy way to play into their bike systems. We have replacement stereo systems that will give you Bluetooth for wireless music streaming as well as aux ports and USB ports for playing all of your portable music files. Your handlebar controls will work just like before. You can even add SiriusXM to your bike.
